I can also verify this same thing. My husband who is a smart man for some STUPID reason gave these people hid debit card information. He called and told me what he did. I immediately called the bank and reported his card lost. I just hope that this stops any money from coming out of our account.

I can validate what Chris wrote. They did the same thing to me. I asked for their web address and the man hung up. Of course this was after I asked them to ask their questions before I would even consider answering them. He asked three short questions. 1) What is your date of birth 2) Wanted a card number or banking information 3) what would I do with the $7,000 grand money?

BEWARE! This call is an attempt to steal your identity. They say they are calling from Washington D.C. and tell you you are eligible for a government grant and will proceed to confirm with you your name, address, ph#, date of birth, etc. They will then give you a number to their "supervisor John Cooper" to continue the fund distribution process. I (lied) told the heavily accented woman that my caller id says they are NOT calling from Washington DC -she said "don't worry about that right now". Calling the phone number, which does seem to have a DC area code, "John Cooper" who also has a heavy accent, states they cannot send checks that the funds must be directly deposited (yeah, right!). I question him on how the US govt is able to send social security and refund checks but unable to send this check -why? He became irritated and questioned why I would doubt 'free money' and hung up on me. I contacted my identity theft prevention provider and told them all-of-above. They contacted this "Mr. Cooper" and stated they wanted their client (me) to be removed from their calling list. Before they could even give him my name, he hung up. Attempts to call him back within those ten minutes went unanswered. DO NOT CONFIRM ANY INFORMATION WITH THEM. THIS IS A SCAM!!!
