If they do call you again- same scenario- they owe you money and a fine is involved.

They never leave a message for me and hang up when I answer.
If they call about a friend or relative- they are NEVER to say the friend or relative owes money. They are allowed to call you to leave a phone number or ask for better contact information. They may only say it is a business matter.
If they actually say your friend or relative owes money, they are then in violation of the FDCPA- your relative may be entitled $$ for this breach of privacy.
The collection agency itself will be fined by the government $1000 if it is the first time and more money on successive violations.
